This year we’re adding even more exciting, unique events to our already-popular repertoire. We’re including high-energy, fun Team Challenge Summer Camp Days; more Farm Days at Light Root Community Farm; more Sunset Events on Flagstaff Mountain in Boulder; and even Movie Nights. You’ll find something for everyone on our inviting 2024 calendar! Designed for anyone in any kind of recovery, no matter how long, from 10 hours to 10 months to 10 years or more, this series is one-of-a-kind. We invite you to join us for this fresh, new perspective to jumpstart the wellness journey. Come experience recovery in a healthy, fun, like-minded community!

We invite you to experience an entertaining evening with like-minded peers in recovery. We’ll enjoy an inspiring recovery-themed movie, of course with popcorn and other theater snacks! The post-holiday months of January and February are difficult for so many of us. Short days and long nights. Cold weather. Community is more important than ever. Come share good food and conversation, and welcome the strength that comes from a supportive community, and beat the winter blahs! Recovery Movie Night will take place inside the Ranger Cottage in the parking lot at the entrance to Chautauqua Park.

“Team Challenge Hike”

Boulder Chautauqua Park

All abilities are welcome on this hike in Boulder’s breathtaking Chautauqua Park. We will be offering a special challenge to those who are up for it! We will also have plenty of other hiking options for those who prefer a relaxed, social experience. As always, there will be plenty of time to meet new people, enhance self-care, and learn about the value of local nature from a recovery perspective. You’ll experience how community connection, public lands, and their inhabitants help give your overall happiness a well-deserved boost. After the hike, we will enjoy warm tea together. We will meet at the Ranger Cottage in the parking lot at the entrance to Boulder Chautauqua Park. All fitness levels are welcome. See you there!

“Nature & Recovery”

Boulder Chautauqua Park

Join Addiction Recovery Coach Brian Klink of Living Color Healing and Recovery Support Specialist Jim Veraldi, as well as other local experts, to discover the value of nature from a recovery perspective. In this sensory experience, we’ll blend social connection and nature immersion to deepen our connections and experience how a reciprocal relationship with the natural world can enhance our recovery. We will meet at the Ranger Cottage in the parking lot at the entrance to Boulder Chautauqua Park. Come jumpstart your recovery in this supportive, like-minded community!

Light Root Community farm is a regenerative, draft-horse powered farm and dairy located on 60 acres of Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) farmland in Boulder, CO.  Join us on this unique and rare opportunity as we team up with husband and wife farmer team, Cameron Genter and Daphne Kingsley, on a journey to see how the practice of harvesting and giving back to the land relates to a sustainable recovery process. This interactive farm experience explores their small grass-based dairy, and how they rejuvenate the health of their fields. Get inspired hearing their story and how a connection to the community drives Light Root Community Farm's social mission.

“Recovery Community Holiday Celebration”

Boulder Chautauqua Park

Experience a celebration of the recovery community this holiday season. This event is designed to share and learn from one another during the holidays, which can be stressful for many. Come share conversation, games, warm drinks and snacks, and discover a whole new level of sober fun! We will meet at the Ranger Cottage at the Chautauqua Park parking lot - see you there!




Due to popular request, we have increased the number of Recovery and Wellness Series events from12 to17 this year. We are building a welcoming, supportive community here!



The outdoor Recovery and Wellness Series is offered at no cost by Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks in collaboration with Boulder Community Health and Living Color Healing. Please register for your event at naturehikes.org (scroll to find events in order date). Boulder Chautauqua events will meet at the Ranger Cottage in the main parking lot. Please bring layers appropriate for the weather, snacks, and water.
